Weeknotes 23/10/2026
This week the team got together in Aberystwyth for two days organised by Mary and Phil. We met at the National Library, where Heledd talked about the team’s priorities and focus for the next six months.
We worked on materials for the upcoming DDaT Day in Shrewsbury and had a really interesting tour of the library’s audiovisual archive. In the evening we headed out for dinner and drinks, with Hannah’s dog Caws quickly becoming the team’s favourite new recruit.

On the second day, Alex gave us a look at the Umbraco 17 update. We also had time to catch up, discuss our work and celebrate Shaun’s birthday with cake before heading home.
It was really nice to spend some time together in person!
Other things we have worked on this week…
- Phil and Laura have almost completed the discovery work for the bird control project. Customer enquiries, application data, existing guidance and feedback from the Species team have helped build a clearer picture of where users get stuck, and where things can be improved. The next step is to start exploring design ideas.
- Laura posted on Viva engage about NRWs top 5 most-used forms
- Following last week’s design work, the updated peat assessment requirements are now live in the felling licence application.
- The publishing officers have had a flurry of reports to check for accessibility, along with the usual public register updates, consultations and general content upkeep.
