A quieter week due to half term holidays, but we keep on plugging away…

  • James is compiling user research findings ready for a playback to the felling team next week

  • Jane and Sam worked on some ‘sensitivities’ content for forest management plan applicants as part of their wider work on improving the user experience. They also had another session with subject matter experts to work through more content and policy queries.

  • Interesting work’s going on for flood: Lucinda has made a prototype of the flood warnings sign up, designs for a rollback feature are now ready, and talks are happening around user research on flood alerts

  • Kim and Hannah published the business and corporate plans and continue to advise colleagues in marine on creating accessible documents

  • Shaun is working with SMEs on impoundment and exploring possible updates to SUDs guidance

  • Comms officer training is up and running with Mary booking in more 1-1 sessions next week

  • The news section has been redesigned to help with scannability (Mary and Kim). Kim also deleted lots unpublished content we no longer need in the CMS.

  • Kim and Mary ran the first 1-1 Umbraco refresher training session with a Comms officer this week. The session included how to create links and use the headings hierarchy correctly (two issues that were highlighted in a recent Zoonou report about our website’s accessibility). Mary also went through some content areas that are often incomplete in the news and blogs templates (too many of our blogs don’t have an author!) and the different ways to add images to blogs. We shared links to the content and publishing manual, including the online version of our style guide, and sent out a user guide with step-by-step instructions on the Umbraco features covered in the training. The Comms officer said he found the session very useful, and he asked for more guidance on best practice for creating links and writing alt text. Training sessions have been booked with five more Comms officers over the next couple of weeks.

  • Some of the content for the species ‘change’ form has been sent to translators by Laura and Phil. They’re also meeting SME next week to finalise the rest of the form.

  • Phil’s exploring new form features available to us such as in page logic. We’re excited about this one.

  • Sam published a blog about the team’s work on standardising page patterns Natural Resources Wales / Blog post: Making our services more consistent using page patterns

  • James is pulling together a presentation about the forest management plans user research findings
