Weeknotes 02/04/2026
The last week before Easter…
A shorter week this week, but we still got plenty done!
It was a momentous week for marine licensing, as Toyah published its revamped website section as part of the customer platform beta project. This new web content is the culmination of roughly six weeks of intensive learning, drafting, approval sessions, redrafting, further approval sessions, translation, and finally completely rebuilding the information architecture within the CMS. After a fight with her laptop, which decided on the day that she needed to reauthenticate herself everywhere, and that it was going to slow the browser to a glacial crawl…the new content and revised IA were finally published. Toyah then pored through every page, making sure links hadn’t broken, documents could be downloaded, Welsh text was in place everywhere it needed to be and all the other fiddly little settings and things were right. She hopes that future marine applicants will appreciate all the work that went into this - not only by herself but also the content designer from our delivery partner, fellow members of the digital team, and all the SMEs involved. Huge thanks to everyone!
Here’s some of the other things we’ve been working on this week:
- This week, Alex and the Intranet team booked a showcase session to present their progress, demonstrate prototype content, and outline proposed next steps.
- On the forest management plan project, Sam and Jane have been updating the prototype following updates from subject matter experts.
- This week in the world of species licensing services, we completed the change a species licence prototype form and now we are waiting for final comments from subject matter experts. We’ve also developed two new forms and finished designing the new ‘renew a species licence’ form. Next steps will be to start mapping the apply for a species licence service so we can begin building the prototype form and create new guidance
- Hannah published the 2-year Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management in Wales 2023 – 2025 report, with Kim and Sophie’s help in reviewing it. Also published were the new marine license exemptions, and updated installations charge calculator tools for the new financial year.
- Mary and Jane have been updating content relating to the new car parking system at three of our sites.
We hope you have a very happy Easter with your loved ones, with plenty of chocolate eggs and hot cross buns! What a great time of year.
